A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR OUR CHURCH FAMILY

A Message from Rev. Brewer
WRITTEN BY REV. WILLIAM A. BREWER, PASTOR-ELECT
Greetings FMBC Family! As we enter into the season of Thanksgiving, we truly have so much to
be grateful for. For family and loved ones, our church family, and for God and the gift of life He
has given to us. Throughout this month, I invite you to consider ways in which you can give
back to those near and far, stranger or friend, young and seasoned in years, as a way to let
them know they are valued, appreciated, and are prayed for daily. As the government
shutdown continues to loom over us and impact people at all stages and phases of their lives, I
encourage us all to never give up on God. Keep the faith and keep your eyes lifted up toward
the hills from which comes your help.” He’s truly brought us too far to leave us and He will
never let us down. And too, may we continue to be the hands and feet of Christ as we continue
to display radical hospitality and impactful outreach to those in our community in
Leavenworth and in the surrounding cities. Remember that outreach is meeting the needs of
others wherever there is a deficit or absence of a basic human need. Our newly formed
Outreach Committee will be guiding us in this work under the leadership of First Lady Rev.
Patrice. Check out their column later in this newsletter.
Last but certainly not least, this month is a special and exciting month in the life of our church:
The Pastoral Installation Service on Sunday, November 16th. I am thankful for the work of the
pulpit committee and I am humbled to you the congregation for the call to serve as your next
Pastor! I am also most grateful to God for placing FMBC in my care and for the vision to expand
our reach and move us forward into a new era of Kingdom-building. I Love You with the Love of
the Lord, and as the saying goes: “there’s nothing you can do about it!”
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

MISSION STATEMENT

To advance the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ through whom all things are possible.  To spread his “Good News” through the preaching of the gospel, public worship, christian education, and community involvement.  Greeting all who enter our doors with fellowship and love.

ORDINANCES

FMBC is mandated by God to practice two ordinances:

BAPTISM – Baptism of believers by immersion in water symbolizes sincere faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection with the desire to walk in the newness of life.

THE LORD’S SUPPER/COMMUNION – The Lord’s Supper or Communion, commemorates Christ’s broken body and shed blood, giving each believer an opportunity for self-examination and rededication.  These are not sacraments to earn salvation, but privileges granted by grace.

Mathew 28: 19-20; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26
